Welcome to Vintage Texas - The Texas wine archive and blog from Russ Kane, wine aficionado, writer and naturalized Texan.
I am in search of the mysterious Texas Terroir. In this blog, I will highlight my rants and raves, and share my experiences as I taste and talk my way around Texas. I will also highlight other regions in the USA and around the world that help put Texas wines in context with the global wine experience.
Thus far, I have visited France, Spain and Hungary and had the opportunity to view some places that really do not look much different than places right here in Texas and are elevating their “game” and becoming serious players on the emerging wine scene. I have visited with grape growers and winemakers and tasted their wines while listening to them discuss their experiences and efforts to describe the elusive “Terroir”. Hopefully, my experiences and comments will be of useful to both Texas wine producers and consumers, and help to define our own mysterious “Texas Terroir”.
I will try to complement these articles with descriptions of my other experiences that will include the people I meet, fun places to stop, things to do and recipes to share.
Please feel free to post your comments, experiences and suggestions for future articles.
Enjoy,
Russ Kane
